Aggressively Passive

  • I feel so much more at home on a Mac than I do on a PC. I’ve used PCs way more in my life.
  • Today seems to be bring your mac to work day
  • The only reason I do design for Ferrari Color is because the alternative is horrifying
  • Pike’s Place is the only Starbucks Coffee I really like, I ran out of filters so I had to bite the bullet today
  • I love my camera beyond words, and my 50mm f1.4 lens.
  • Oooh, I love Garamond Pro Open Type too
  • Fishing for interest gets a bit old, Forest Gumping your love life does not.
  • I wish I would have written the song “Heaven” by Angels and Airwaves, such a beautiful song in a non-conventional way
  • I’m going to start keeping track of my recipes on my Kindle
  • I wonder if they’ve posted the Grizzlies schedule… hmm.
  • I have an e-mail about the graphic design industry that I have to write. To someone’s brother no less. What makes me the expert? I stop designing for a living a long time ago.
  • My renewal for chaddock-ind.com comes up next month, I’m seriously considering not registering it again.
  • I still don’t want to hook up with your sister
  • Found out about the band Beach House last night (a bunch of my friends went in PC). Not too shabby, check them out.
  • Good lord have I missed my main music collection, I’m so happy right now. I haven’t heard falling slowly in such a long time
  • I love Rod Stewart… and David Duchovny… and your mom.
  • Vagabond Heart changed my outlook on music. So did 3EB’s self titled album. So did your mom.
  • Affairs aren’t really that funny.
  • I stumbled on a shit-ton of old pictures yesterday.
  • Jen and I were going to name our kids Aiden and Lola, I sort of wrote a story about them yesterday.
  • Is that weird? It feels like it.
  • I still like cliche emo lyrics: “We were starring at the stars and we heard a clap of thunder. Then the moon gave away to rain and it tore apart the sky. So we laid flat on our backs, cause in the rain no one knows your crying.” “I swear I’ll give you everything, that is me.”
  • Grape juice has more anti-oxidants than Orange Juice
  • I should be working right now, if there is one thing I know I’m awesome at it’s procrastinating.
  • I pretty much went to work yesterday for 6 hours only to procrastinate doing the work I should have been doing
  • I’m hungry. I need to get to work.
  • Needing words of affirmation is not the most awesome thing I’ve needed in the last little bit.
  • Sometime Later by Alpha is such a sexy song.
  • So is Look at Me by Villeneuve. “I know it’s all about the way you feel inside me, keep your eyes wide open and look at me now.”
  • He says his body’s too old for workin, his body’s too young to look like his
  • My work e-mail hasn’t worked on my phone for almost a week. It’s been rather peaceful.
  • I’m excited to watch Steve Nash scurry around EA tonight. I’m also excited to see the jazz win.

mop mop mop

Tech punditry aside, Apple should use a Gobi chip inside their tablet so they can use it on either Verizon or AT&T. I feel like they can’t afford to do a single carrier release for this device, AT&Ts service is taxed as it is with just the iPhone. The gobi chip allows them to do CDMA and GSM with one chip.

I can also see them coming out with a WIFI only version. The problem with that is how they will keep the price lower than a subsidized tablet.

I don’t see them using OLED for the display either, it sucks too much in sunlight and the tech is too new. Beautiful, low power consumption, but still too new.

Other predictions? It won’t compete directly with the Kindle. Sure it will have software to support reading books, but it won’t have an e-ink display. I don’t know that I would go back to a regular LCD display to read books after having my Kindle. I honestly don’t know why people think Amazon is worried.

save the cheerleader, save the world

As I’ve sat down at a computer the last few days it’s been hard to focus on anything other than what’s going on in Haiti. Here I am supposed to be working on stuff that has absolutely no value to anyone outside of consumerism. Burgers and fries, not saving lives.

At my work we’ve been preparing for a “sales conference” this week. The message these last two days? “Sell, sell, sell!” I’ve even got a presentation coming up on implementing our CRM software… to sell more efficiently.

Before I get all boo hoo about what I do for a living in relation to the amazing work that is being done in Haiti, I need to get this back on track…

Twitter has become this unbelievable communication tool. At first it was this little tool to broadcast what you are eating for lunch and now, now it’s the definitive resource to find out real-time what is going on with any particular subject. It’s techie* democracy in it’s purest form.

I guess my point is that we all start out somewhere, our day to day lives may seem bland, we may not be doing exactly what we hoped, but everyone has to start somewhere. We may not be able to drop our life savings and 124.62 hours of accrued PTO on helping the cause today, but there is nothing saying we can’t do it tomorrow.

*Twitter is interesting in that it still tends to be fairly technology progressive people that use it. Even though Jay Leno probably has more overall support, I bet he trended a lot less than Conan due to the primary demographic of twitter. As time progresses this will change… another positive evolution for the once humble service.

good

I had one of the best nights of my life tonight. There was nothing epic or monumental about it. There was no point where I made a bad decision and it worked out for the best. It was just the most pleasant night spent with friends where I got to share so much of myself and it seemed like they appreciated everything I had to say.
